How it works
One path from a stopped machine to a running one
MachineDown is designed around a single question: what does this person need in the next ten minutes?
- STEP 01
Identify
Enter the brand, model, fault code or symptom — or photograph the nameplate and let the platform read it, with the extracted details shown back to you for confirmation.
- STEP 02
Understand
You get the documented meaning of the fault where a verified record exists, the plausible causes labelled as documented or hypothesis, and a plain statement of what is still unknown.
- STEP 03
Repair
Request quotations from verified providers, compare them line by line, and accept the one that fits. Nothing is confirmed until the provider accepts.
- STEP 04
Prevent
Save the machine to a free equipment passport. Service history, warranty dates and maintenance reminders make the next fault faster to diagnose and cheaper to fix.
How we handle safety
Self-checks are limited to non-invasive actions: supply present, set points, seals, airflow, filters, water and visible alarm resets. Anything involving mains voltage, refrigerant circuits, gas, pressure vessels or safety interlocks is routed to a qualified professional, and we never explain how to bypass a protective device.
Where the information comes from
Published manufacturer documentation, licensed material, original technical review, and technician-submitted findings that passed review. Every record carries its source, version, last verified date and safety class — and a record still waiting for its source document is flagged to administrators, not hidden.
Who is responsible for the repair
MachineDown is an independent platform, not the repair provider. The contract is between you and the provider, and both parties see the same quotation terms. Disputes are raised and tracked through the help centre.
